Top 50 Romance Short Dramas: September 2026

9,217 series landed in September 2026 so far. ShortMax published the most of them (3,137, 34% of the month), ahead of ReelShort (2,700) and MoboReels (1,664). This is the fifty we rank highest out of that month, numbered, taken a few per app so the biggest publisher does not fill the page. It opens with [ENG DUB] My Wedding Night Mix-Up, Bodyguard at Your Service and The Imperfect Marriage.

The month leaned on marriage & contract marriage, divorce & betrayal and billionaire & ceo, and 62% of what arrived carries our R story rating for violence, threat or dark themes. How the ranking is built is set out below the list; the short version is that it is not a view count, because nobody publishes one.

The Top 50, ranked

What to know before you install

Every app here is free to download and every series opens with free episodes, so the first decision costs nothing. What costs something is the second one. These apps run on coins: you buy them in bundles, each locked episode spends some, and the bundles are sized so the amount you need never quite matches the amount you can buy. Free coins are genuinely available every day to anyone who opens the app and taps through the bonus; it just takes patience, and the patience is the business model.

Where an app offers an unlimited weekly or monthly pass, it is almost always cheaper than coins if you are watching more than one series at a time. The one habit worth forming: turn off auto-renew the day you buy a pass. You keep the week you paid for, and you do not keep paying for the ten weeks after you lose interest. We do not quote coin prices anywhere on this site because they change often enough that any figure would be stale within weeks, and a stale price is worse than none.

How this list is built

Not a view count, and we would rather say so at the top than let a numbered badge imply one. Nobody publishes viewing figures for short drama: the distributor's feed carries no popularity field, its ranking endpoints are closed, and its ordering is simply newest-first. So this is ranked on things we can measure and you can argue with: how much of the premise is built to make you wait, how many distinct themes the series carries, how recently it landed, and what the app you would have to watch it on scores in its own store reviews. DramaBox titles carry a fixed fifteen-point partner term on top, because it is the app we recommend first and we would rather say so than hide it in the order. Only titles whose free opener plays on this site are admitted, so every entry has a page where you can watch it before you install anything. DramaBox and ReelShort may take up to twelve slots each; every other app is capped at six. Titles on apps we steer readers away from are left off entirely rather than ranked low, and it is taken a few per platform rather than straight down the list, because ReelShort out-publishes the next four apps combined and would otherwise take most of the slots.

One thing here is not our measurement. 6 of these titles carry a Charting tag, which means they are on ReelShort’s own public top shelf right now, the only platform of the fourteen that publishes one, and the closest thing to a chart anyone in this category exposes. We check it rather than take it on trust, and we record which titles are on it rather than the order, because the shelf reorders itself between visits and reproducing that would be reproducing noise. They are spaced through the top twenty rather than stacked at the top of it: they are all ReelShort, for the simple reason that no other app publishes a shelf, and letting them sort straight to the front would turn the opening of this page into an advert for one app.

54% of this list carries our R story rating, for violence, threat or dark themes. Most of these ratings are provisional: derived from the synopsis rather than from us watching the series, and deliberately rounded up, because under-rating a dark plot costs a viewer more than over-rating a gentle one costs us. Romance heat is a separate scale and only appears where we have watched something. How our ratings work.

Where we have watched a series you will see our verdict and both ratings; where we have not, you get the platform’s own synopsis and nothing we have not earned. Our method is on how we review. Every app here is free to install and every series starts with free episodes, so trying two costs nothing; the ranked app comparison covers which ones respect your money.
