Vampires bring something the werewolf catalogue does not: time. A mate bond is urgent and a pack is immediate, but an immortal has centuries of history and every one of them is a complication. The better series use that for slow-burn, which is unusual in a format built on cliffhangers.
Expect the story rating to run high. Blood, threat and a power imbalance between the leads are the genre's furniture, and the good ones treat that imbalance as a problem rather than a fantasy.
